Namesake

Established 2017

Dietz Elementary is the district’s fourth elementary school and formally opened its doors on August 22, 2017, to begin the 2017-18 school year. The campus is named after Mr. Hollis T. Dietz of the Dietz Cotton Gin, a long-time staple in Crandall, according to the district. Dietz was very active in both the City of Crandall and Crandall ISD for many years. A sign from the original cotton gin was saved from demolition and placed in the entry of the campus.

On November 14, 2016, the Crandall ISD Board of Trustees voted on the name of the new elementary school in Heartland, Texas, to be Hollis T. Dietz Elementary. Dietz Elementary will open for the 2017-2018 school year.  Mr. Dietz's family was present at the School Board meeting for this special honor.  CISD, presented Wesley Patterson, Mr. Dietz's son-in-law, the framed photo of the new Hollis T. Dietz Elementary School.  On behalf of the entire family, Mr. Patterson accepted the photo and expressed gratitude for this honor.

Mr. Dietz moved to Crandall in 1916.  He attended Crandall ISD, was a school board member and served on numerous committees that contributed to the growth of the school district and the city. Crandall ISD is honored to share the name of our newest school, Hollis T. Dietz Elementary.
